Child Development
|
The early years of learning are very important to the child’s development and I adhere to the
“birth to three matters” frame work set out by Ofsted.
It is very important for young children to get used to a routine so that they can become familiar
with their environment and what is expected. I try adopt this approach as much as possible from the
small tasks, such as washing hands before eating and after toilet trips, to the daily tasks, helping
to set tables and clean up after meal times, to daily routines such as rest/quiet time after meals.
This not only helps to set expectations for the children but also helps them to feel safe and secure
within their environment.

Activities
|
There are numerous activities avaiable too and the children and each day has different activities whilst
retaining a similar structure. A sample day plan can be seen below.
I also like to get the children outside in to the fresh air as much as possible by taking them on different outings.
These outings and trips range from :
Trips to the local parks
Visits to the local ponds to see and feed the birds and ducks
Outings to different play groups or social gatherings for young people
These outings and trips help the children to see and explore the outside world as well as giving them the opportunity
to mix with other children of a similar age. I will always inform the parents a day in advance of any outing and will
always seek permission before taking children from my home.
As well as free play, I also have numerous activities to help the children learn and develop through play and interaction.
